where the points go
six things that decide
the score
speed is the actual skill
every section gives less time per question than feels reasonable. strategy here means deciding fast what to skip, not working faster.
science is not science
it is graph and table reading under time. you rarely need outside knowledge, and hunting for it is what burns the clock.
english rewards a small rulebook
the same handful of grammar and rhetoric rules cycle through. shorter is usually right.
maths is wide but shallow
more topics than the sat, less depth. gaps show up as whole question types you have never seen rather than hard reasoning.
reading rewards structure
get the shape of the passage, then hunt. reading every word carefully is the trap.
the composite is an average
one weak section drags the whole number, so the cheapest points are usually in your worst section, not your best.
what to post
a photo of the question you got wrong, or a sentence about the section that keeps costing you. the useful thing is usually not the answer — it is why the answer you chose looked right.
