what actually gets in the way
six things nobody
tells you
lectures are not where learning happens
they are where material is delivered. the understanding happens later, alone, usually at the point where you get stuck and have nobody to ask.
nobody notices you are behind
there is no teacher tracking you. the first signal is often a midterm, which is also the most expensive place to find out.
office hours go unused
partly scheduling, partly not wanting to admit how lost you are. either way the help exists and goes uncollected.
problem sets are the actual course
the exam is drawn from them. copying an answer you do not understand is borrowing from the version of you who sits the exam.
first year is an adjustment, not a verdict
the transition from a structured school week to unstructured time is a skill. people mistake it for an aptitude.
a whole session is often overkill
one problem, one concept, one paragraph of feedback. post it and pick who answers.
what to post
a photo of the problem, or a sentence about what you did not follow. verified tutors send offers with a price, a rating and a completion rate, and you pick who helps you.
for the writing side see essay writing, and for the parts that are repetition, the study tools.
