what actually gets in the way
six things nobody
tells you
the structure disappears
no problem sets, no weekly checkpoints. a thesis is one enormous deadline with nothing enforcing the middle of it.
statistics is where most people stall
not the arithmetic — choosing the right test, meeting its assumptions, and saying honestly what the result does and does not show.
methods have to justify themselves
a committee asks why this design, not whether you ran it correctly. that is a different kind of defence than coursework ever asked for.
writing at length is its own skill
an eighty-page argument is not a long essay. it needs structure that holds across chapters written months apart.
isolation is a real failure mode
the work is solitary by design, and the people around you are busy with their own. a second reader is the cheapest intervention there is.
feedback loops are slow
a supervisor may take weeks. a specific question answered this week is worth more than a general one answered eventually.
what to post
a photo of the problem, or a sentence about what you did not follow. verified tutors send offers with a price, a rating and a completion rate, and you pick who helps you.
for the quantitative side see statistics, and for admissions tests, the gre and gmat.
