what the exam rewards
six things that
score points
it is an experimental design exam
you will be asked to identify a control, state a hypothesis and predict a result far more often than to recall a pathway.
there is statistics on it
chi-square, standard error, error bars. a biology student who skipped the maths chapter loses points that have nothing to do with biology.
graphs are the question
most free response starts with data you have never seen. the skill is reading it carefully and saying only what it supports.
connect across scales
molecule to cell to organism to ecosystem. the harder questions ask how a change at one level shows up at another.
know why, not what
the exam asks why a mechanism works the way it does. a memorised diagram without the reasoning behind it answers almost nothing.
write in the terms of the question
if it says justify, justify. if it says predict, commit to a prediction. answers that hedge score as though they said nothing.
what to post
the free response you got back, the unit that is not landing, or a photo of the question. the useful part is usually why the answer you gave did not earn the point.
verified tutors send offers with a price, a rating and a completion rate, and you pick who helps you. there are flashcards, quizzes and past papers in the app for the parts that are repetition.
