where it usually goes wrong
the six that cost
the most marks
the unit circle pays for two years
memorising it properly now saves you in calculus and again in physics. it is the highest-return memorisation in school maths.
transformations follow one pattern
inside the bracket affects x and does the opposite of what it looks like. outside affects y and behaves. once that clicks, every graph becomes predictable.
log rules are exponent rules
they are the same three facts written the other way round. people memorise two separate lists and confuse both.
trig identities are a toolbox
the skill is not knowing them all, it is recognising which one turns the expression in front of you into something simpler.
asymptotes come from the algebra
they are not a separate topic. they fall straight out of where a denominator is zero and what happens as x grows.
radians are the real unit
degrees are a convention you will drop. getting comfortable in radians now removes a whole class of later confusion.
